NUKU’ALOFA, TONGA (24 May 2019) — The official opening of the Lakalakaimonu Multi Utility Office Complex was held today with the presence of Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u as the Guests of Honor of the Event.
The Lakalakaimonῡ Multi Utility Office Complex comprises of a Multi Main Office Building, a Multi Distribution Network Deport and Workshop, A Network Suppliers Warehouse as well as a Multi Storage Warehouse with a Health and Fitness Facility.
The Multi Utility Complex offers a one stop shop solution, whereby customers can pay their bills at a convenient location, instead of the traditional method used of paying their bills at each of the different Utility Buildings. Payment Options for Utility Expenses are still available in either BSP Bank, ANZ Bank or Western Union. The existing individual Utility Buildings are currently in the tender process and will be finalized in the upcoming months.
The Complex was facilitated from a loan through ANZ Bank totaling just over $9.1M Tongan Pa’anga. Payment for this loan will be not be borne by Customers of Waste, Water, Power & Gas, but through renting of all offices of each respective Utility that will become available once all Utilities have moved and have begun operations in the new complex.
Having a Combined Multi Utility Building enables sharing of best governance and corporate policies in line with the expectations of the Ministry of Public Enterprises. Sharing of services such as Billing, Revenue Collection and Information & Communications will enable more efficient services that will be offered to the people of Tonga.
