[Tongatapu, Wednesday 13th March 2024] - Tonga Power Limited (TPL) is pleased to announce a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing reliable and sustainable power solutions to the people of Tongatapu. Beginning from the 11th to the 24th of March 2024, Tonga Power Limited will be conducting critical works to install, configure, and test our CoMaps controllers, further strengthening our power generation management capabilities.
Expected CoMaps testing scheduled is as follows;
- Sunday, March 17th, 2024 (12:00pm – 4:00pm)
- Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 (12:00pm – 4:00pm)
- Sunday, March 24th, 2024 (12:00pm – 4:00pm)
During the implementation for the testing of the installed CoMaps controllers, Tonga Power Limited anticipates potential power outages or blackouts. Customers are kindly advised to take precautionary measures by turning off electricity appliances during these times. Tonga Power Limited understands the inconvenience that such disruptions may cause and appreciates the cooperation and understanding of our valued customers.
CoMaps controllers represent a cutting-edge technology designed to optimize the management of our power generation grid, particularly in light of the intermittency associated with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. These controllers will enable Tonga Power Limited to achieve more efficient load balancing, ensuring stable and uninterrupted electricity supply across Tongatapu.
Mr. Finau Moa, ACEO of Tonga Power Limited, emphasized the importance of these upgrades, stating, "Our investment in CoMaps controllers underscores our commitment to providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions to our community. With these enhancements, we are better equipped to manage the challenges posed by renewable energy intermittency, ultimately ensuring a more resilient power infrastructure for Tongatapu."
At Tonga Power Limited, the safety and satisfaction of our customers remain our top priorities. We are committed to keeping the community informed throughout the duration of these upgrades and will provide updates as necessary.
