TPL Board Approves to Capitalize all New Service Lines

TPL Board Approves to Capitalize all New Service Lines

NUKU’ALOFA, TONGA (14th July 2021) — The Board of Directors of TPL have approved that ALL NEW Service Lines (connection from the electricity network to the customer) from the 1st of July 2021 onwards will now be borne by TPL through its capital expenditure program.

Customers in the Nuku’alofa area of Tongatapu will still have the opportunity to have a connection to the electricity network funded by the Nuku’alofa Network Upgrade Project and similarly customers in Vava’u will have the opportunity to have a connection through the Vava’u Network Upgrade Project. This decision is expected to benefit some approximately 750 plus customers annually and will be subject to certain conditions such as follows:

  •  A reasonable service line length per customer depending on customer types/demand i.e. temporary connection, residential, commercial, connection to areas without TPL network, etc.
  • The customer must provide ALL the necessary documents & Certificate of Completion permit issued by Tonga Electricity Commission for new installation

There may be other conditions that may need to be imposed should customer demand be greater than expected and as Tonga Power Limited adapts to this opportunity available to the public. For more information, please contact the Acting CEO Nikolasi Fonua at Phone 21-400.
