Signing Ceremony for Tonga’s First Large Scaled Battery Energy Storage System

NUKU’ALOFA, TONGA (18th July 2019) — Tonga’s first Large scaled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will be built at the Popua Power Station after an agreement was signed today between Tonga Power Limited and Akuo Energy SAS, an energy company specializing in developing and operating renewable energy power plants.

NIUTOUA, TONGA (10th July 2019) — Tonga’s 1st ever large scaled wind farm was commissioned today by their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u. Distinguished guests from the diplomatic corps, Ministers, CEO’s & government officials attended the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Ii ‘o Manumataongo wind farm.

NUKU’ALOFA, TONGA (24 May 2019) — The official opening of the Lakalakaimonu Multi Utility Office Complex was held today with the presence of Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u as the Guests of Honor of the Event.
 
The Lakalakaimonῡ Multi Utility Office Complex comprises of a Multi Main Office Building, a Multi Distribution Network Deport and Workshop, A Network Suppliers Warehouse as well as a Multi Storage Warehouse with a Health and Fitness Facility.

NUKU’ALOFA, TONGA (26th March 2019) — TPL has been working together with Government to hold its electricity tariff since July 2017. Diesel prices have increased steadily from July 2017 ($1.1784 per litre) to November 2018 ($1.8531 per litre) and only reduces last 3 months to February 2019 ($1.4407 per litre).
