JOB VACANCY - RISK AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Tonga Power Limited is a public enterprise responsible for the generation, distribution and supply of electricity throughout Tonga. Applications are invited for the position of Risk and Compliance Manager, based at Tonga Power Limited's Head Office at the Lakalakaimonu Building, Matatoa, Tofoa.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Risk and Compliance Manager provides independent, risk-based assurance and strategic advice to the CEO, Senior Management Team, Board Risk and Audit Committee, and Board on the adequacy and effectiveness of TPL's enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, and health, safety and environmental performance.
The successful candidate will lead and continuously improve TPL's enterprise risk management framework, regulatory compliance programme, and health, safety and environmental performance. The role also leads the Risk & Compliance team and contributes to TPL's long-term sustainability and reliable service delivery to the people of Tonga.

To be considered for this senior leadership position, applicants should ideally have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum of five years' relevant experience in risk, compliance, assurance or health and safety, ideally within a utility, infrastructure or regulated environment.
- Proven senior-level experience in Health and Safety and Environmental management, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management.
- Demonstrated experience in health, safety and environmental management, including building positive, adaptive learning and safety cultures.
- Excellent investigative, analytical and research skills, supported by sound, objective and timely decision-making.
- Strong digital literacy and high attention to detail, balanced with strategic and commercial awareness.
- Excellent report-writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with executives and the Board.
- High levels of initiative, discretion, integrity and professionalism.
- Strong influencing, negotiation and planning skills, with a proven ability to build trusted working relationships internally and externally.
- Strong stakeholder-management, people-leadership and team-development skills.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality, professional independence and sound judgement.
